Information for visitors with disabilities. While the Tower climb is not accessible, the Piazza dei Miracoli and many of its monuments offer access for everyone to enjoy this historic site.

Leaning Tower

Due to its narrow, 294-step spiral staircase and historic structure, the Leaning Tower is not accessible to wheelchair users or visitors with significant mobility impairments. The climb is also not recommended for those with cardiovascular conditions.

Piazza dei Miracoli (Square)

The main square is large, flat, and paved, making it fully accessible for wheelchairs and strollers. You can enjoy magnificent exterior views of all the monuments from the Piazza.

Cathedral, Baptistery, and Camposanto

The Cathedral, Baptistery, and Camposanto are largely accessible on the ground floor. Ramps are available where needed. Some upper levels or specific chapels may have limited access.

Museums

The Museo dell'Opera del Duomo and the Sinopie Museum are equipped with elevators and are accessible to wheelchair users.

Is there an elevator in the Leaning Tower?
No, there is no elevator. Access to the top is only possible via the 294-step staircase.
How do I get the free ticket for a disabled visitor and carer?
You must go to the ticket office on-site and present valid documentation of disability. These tickets cannot be booked online.
